Welcome to Model United Nations at Illinois.
Letter from the Secretary-General

On behalf of the Illinois Model UN Secretariat and Executive Board, it is my great pleasure
to welcome you to the 28th iteration of Model United Nations at Illinois: MUNI
XXVIII! Since its founding in 1995, MUNI has grown into a leading conference in
the Midwest known for providing a professional, enriching, and unforgettable delegate
experience—hosted at our historic campus in Champaign, IL.
Building on the successes of MUNI XXVII, which marked our third successful post-pandemic conference and was led by Secretary-General Nafisa Khan, we are proud to continue this legacy of innovation and excellence. With overwhelming positive feedback from advisors and delegates and the introduction of new styles of committees, MUNI XXVII will serve as a model for our upcoming conference.
Whether this is your first or tenth conference, MUNI is designed to be a meaningful learning experience. First-time delegates will be supported through frequent feedback sessions and consistent support from our friendly staff, while seasoned delegates will be challenged through complex and dynamic committee structures and topics. By the end of the conference, every delegate will take home a new perspective on communicating, compromising, and collaborating—skills critical for solving global issues.
Providing an exciting, safe, and impactful delegate experience is our top priority at MUNI. Through our well thought-out committees, year-long trained staff, and extensive delegate resources, MUNI aims to encourage students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace diplomacy, and grow as global citizens. From writing resolutions to speaking on the floor, from negotiating tough compromises to respecting diverse perspectives—every aspect of the Model UN experience is brought to life here at MUNI.
We look forward to welcoming you to our campus and seeing you thrive in committee. If at any time you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at secgen@illinoismun.org.
Registration opens in August 2025. MUNI XXVIII is tentatively scheduled for April 17-18, 2026. Please feel free to fill out our interest form here!
Warm regards,
Divij Garg
