Letter from the Secretary-General
On behalf of the Illinois Model UN Secretariat and Executive Board, it is my pleasure to
welcome you to the 29th edition of Model United Nations at Illinois: MUNI XXIX!
Since its founding in 1995, MUNI has grown into one of the Midwest's leading Model United Nations conferences, known for providing delegates with a professional, enriching, and unforgettable experience on our historic campus in Champaign, Illinois.
Following the success of MUNI XXVIII, led by Secretary-General Divij Garg, we are proud to continue MUNI's legacy of innovation and excellence. The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from advisors and delegates will help guide us as we prepare for this year's conference. We are also excited to expand MUNI slightly so that even more students can experience Model United Nations and all that it has to offer.
Whether this is your first conference or your tenth, MUNI is designed to be a meaningful learning experience. First-time delegates will receive frequent feedback and consistent support from our welcoming staff, while experienced delegates will be challenged by complex topics and dynamic committee structures. By the end of the conference, we hope every delegate leaves with new perspectives on communication, compromise, and collaboration skills that are essential for addressing global challenges.
Providing an exciting, safe, and impactful delegate experience is our top priority. Through thoughtfully designed committees, extensively trained staff, and comprehensive delegate resources, MUNI encourages students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace diplomacy, and grow as global citizens. From writing resolutions and speaking on the floor to negotiating difficult compromises and engaging with diverse perspectives, every part of the Model UN experience comes to life at MUNI.
