Type: General Assembly (Specialized)
Welcome to the Pan-African Parliament of the African Union. Throughout the weekend, delegates in this specialized committee will work toward crafting a robust continental resolution addressing some of the most pressing political, security, and development challenges facing Africa today.
The PAP serves as a forum for advancing regional cooperation while navigating the diverse priorities of 55 member states, each with its own, and often opposing, political system, security concerns, and economic interests. As Africa confronts rising activity by non-state armed groups, persistent governance and election-related tensions, and the demands of building continent-spanning infrastructure, the Parliament plays a key role in proposing coherent, long-term policy strategies. Delegates will tackle questions ranging from how to coordinate collective security efforts, to how to fund major infrastructure projects, to how the AU can better promote democratic norms without infringing on national sovereignty.
We are excited to see the creativity, collaboration, and pan-African spirit delegates will bring to this committee. Whether you are new to Model UN or a returning delegate, the PAP is a great opportunity for both fun and a deeper understanding of policymaking on the African stage.
